The resistance genes in bacteria will change the shape of the antibiotics, so that antibiotic won't be bind bacterial ribosome and bacteria will have no problem growing.

Some terminology:

Bacterial Genes: Like human the bacteria have genes of their own kind. These genes can be copied and exchanged within the same type or group of bacteria.
Ribosome: Bacteria as well as higher animals make their proteins using a pair of ribosome. The bacterial ribosome is smaller than that of the human or animals. Some antibiotics like Chloramphenical stop bacterial protein synthesis very selectively.
