Bharatia scripts texts may otherwise, broadly, be categorized into four classes: the Samhitas ( encloses vedas), Brahmanas (either independent or included within veda as prose text), Aranyakas, and Upanishads.
  • Samhitas: There are four vedas, namely Rig, Sam, Yaur and Atharva written during vedic era 1100 to 1700 BC.
  • Brahmanas: (either independent or included within veda as a prose ).
  • Aranyakas: " The word itself means a "forest", and contributed by the individuals lived in the forest.  The Aranyakas, describes about philosophical practices and sacrifices.
  • Upanishads: contains philosophical sermons and stories.
