Installing Oracle in XP/Apache/Tomcat and PHP Modules = home,
You try at your risk.

There are many options of downloading and wet your hands with Oracle databases. Downloads are available. You may also down load this suit. If at all, there is a future change in this download, I would stick with database so that during this tutorials if you may need to brush-up your SQL+ quires, which is very similar to Mysql or Access quires , you may start right way. I would try to cover Oracle and Java as needed with the tutorials for Oracle Hands on. These days average house holds have more than one computers and often used routers/broadband in combination. If you are one of them, please read  this first before you install the product. The error warnings or error will not be there when add Microsoft LoopBack Adaptor. Please use this link to view step by step installation in another model where we test oracle and .net compatibility. (Link). You won't see any warnings from the installer.

Going through with the permission and licensees

I usually download everything in a designated computer ( that is a part of my intranet setup); it is your free will to download wherever you like, my day to day life takes me to many applications and compilers, I keep it approachable by name of the vendor, here as it goes with the oracle. It is entirely your call to manage these folders.

While waiting for the downloads, ( if you are downloading with broad band, would prefer to download the library, on the side. The oracle documentations are mostly very descriptive, please read and have patience,  I liked to add diagrammatic representations of the architecture as far as possible, than being descriptive.

Problem: The install has detected that the primary IP address of the system is DHCP-assigned.
Recommendation: Oracle supports installations on systems with DHCP-assigned IP addresses; However, before you can do this, you must configure the Microsoft LoopBack Adapter to be the primary network adapter on the system. See the Installation Guide for more details on installing the software on systems configured with DHCP.
